Safety, service, and smart solutions define our organization

At Axelent, we are dedicated to developing products that meet our customers’ needs, creating safer workplaces in an increasingly automated and complex industrial landscape. According to Catherine Tims, EHS Insights, advanced technologies like data-driven risk mitigation strategies innovation is paving the way for a safer and more secure work environment.

Data as your safety ally

Advanced tech developments are revolutionizing safety in high-risk industries. For example, predictive risk analytics which means rather than wait for accidents to happen you analyze incident data, near misses and sensor readings to identify high-risk areas. Proactive interventions based on data insights can prevent incidents before they occur, says Catherine, EHS Insight. “Predictive Maintenance: AI-powered algorithms analyze sensor data from equipment to predict potential failures before they happen, reducing the risk of accidents and costly downtime.” Says Catherine Tims. Groundbreaking technologies like VR training can offer realistic training scenarios for workers encountering hazardous situations and prepare them for real challenges but in a safe and controlled environment.

Protecting machines rather than people

Historically, prioritizing staff safety training or adopting the latest technology has not always been a mandatory requirement or a primary focus in industries or automated warehouses.

“In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, industrial accidents were commonplace, and there was little regulatory oversight. Workers operated in hazardous conditions, with machinery that offered no protection from moving parts, leading to frequent injuries and deaths.” According to Jason Kerkhof.

Machine guards were often implemented to protect the machines rather than people operating them. There was a need for federal regulation in the industry and this led to the establishment of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in 1970.

Modern advancements such as machine guarding and predictive analytics are transforming workplace safety today. Sven Toftgård is a part of the Axelent Safety Group, and we have asked him how Axelent meet the safety requirements for safer workplaces.

How do we at Axelent meet the safety requirements and changes in legislation for a safe industry?
Safety, service and smart solutions are keywords that characterize our entire organization and business. Over the years, we have accumulated extensive knowledge of how to achieve optimal machine safety through applicable directives and regulations and their related standards.

How does Axelent's machine guarding contribute to the overall development towards safer workplaces?
Machine guarding plays a crucial role in many environments and is a cost-effective way to create safe workplaces and to protect employees from risks and injuries. Not least in emerging automated manufacturing, warehousing and logistics centers.
